League of Friends

Since 1954, the League of Friends has been raising funds to support projects in the hospital, as well as health care services within the local area. With the launch of the Stars Appeal as the hospital's official charity, we now work alongside them with separate fundraising efforts to support small projects that make a big difference to patients, visitors and staff.

69ÀÏʪ»ú¸£Àû Hospice Charity

Formed in 1981, the 69ÀÏʪ»ú¸£Àû Hospice Charity jointly funds palliative care services with the NHS. Through its activities it has funded the building of the Hospice and several subsequent extensions and refurbishments. It is committed to raising £1.5 million each year to maintain and develop the services. In some cases it is the sole funder of a service or activity.

Stars Appeal Engagers Programme

Improving the emotional wellbeing of older people in hospital

The Stars Appeal Engagers Programme is run by the Department of Clinical Psychology at 69ÀÏʪ»ú¸£Àû and is designed to support the psychological needs of older adults in hospital who often find the transition from home to hospital difficult. This may lead to problems such as anxiety and depression.

Stars Appeal Engagers uses specially trained psychology volunteers to help support the emotional wellbeing of patients during their stay in hospital

The Stars Appeal Engagers Programme is funded by the donations made to the official hospital charity, the Stars Appeal.

If you are interested in volunteering with the Stars Appeal Engagers please email enquiries to sft.engage@nhs.net
