COVID-19 & Visiting

As a department, we are constantly reviewing our guidance regarding COVID-19.

As of 13th April we are not requiring any support partners to perform a lateral flow test (LFT) prior to attending the department, however we do respectfully request that if anyone is displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 that they do not attend any appointments or admissions.

Support partners will warmly be invited to wait with their partners in the antenatal clinic and the day assessment unit. We will be closely monitoring the waiting areas and if there are times where these areas are very busy, we may politely request that support partners wait outside.

We will no longer be requesting that anyone who is having a planned admission for example a caesarean section or an induction of labour has a PCR prior to their admission. We will be requesting that an LFT is taken on the day of admission and registered on the NHS website: . LFT tests are available on the government website

There will be no changes to postnatal visiting at this time.

In the event that anyone has a positive LFT during their pregnancy please phone our telephone triage service for advice and support on 01722 425185.

Everyone will continue to be required to wear a face mask – the only exception is for women who are in labour or within your bed space on the postnatal ward. All our staff will continue to wear face masks, this is because mask wearing is a simple precaution that we can all take to keep each other safe.

The importance of hand washing to reduce the risk of infections is recognised at 69ÀÏʪ»ú¸£Àû District Hospital. We ask all visitors to clean their hands with alcohol gel prior to entering any ward, and again on leaving. This action has been shown to have a significant effect on reducing the spread of infection.

Please continue to be kind and considerate to our staff and thank you everyone for your continued support.

Our staff at 69ÀÏʪ»ú¸£Àû District Hospital have long been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they provide for our patients and for their innovation, commitment and professionalism. This has been recognised in a wide range of achievements and it is reflected in our award of NHS Foundation Trust status. This is afforded to hospitals that provide the highest standards of care.
